The church is not a building, it's people
The church is not a building and it’s not a set of programmes and events. It’s a group of people- ordinary people who trust in Jesus to save them and want to live together with Him as their Lord.
This section isn’t a “Who’s Who” of the V.I.P.s at Grace Church Dulwich, because every person is important. But it’s a way for you to see some of the leaders of the church, as well as hear from a few others, so you get to know us as a church.

Phil Martin
Lead Pastor
About Phil
Phil was born and raised in Manchester, came to faith in Christ as a teenager, and has lived in London since 2007. He’s married to Anna, with three boys.

Fiona Neden
Women's ministry team leader
About Fiona
I was introduced to engaging teaching about the life and death of the Lord Jesus in my early 20s. A friend took me to a lunchtime meeting where the Bible was clearly explained. I had never heard anything like it! After hearing more over several months I came to realise that what the Bible taught was true and that we can see God face-to-face and have an intimate relationship with him because of what Jesus came to do for all who put their trust in him. Jesus has died to take my sin on himself and so I can be free from the burden and penalty of that. It was life changing.
Fast forward 15 years and I found myself married to Andrew, the mother of three boisterous boys, living in Dulwich. We joined with a group of others as Grace Church Dulwich was set up. It’s been our church family for 15 years now!
I am responsible for the women’s ministry team here. Which means trying to help us plan, pray and study the Bible amongst the women. Encouraging us from his word to stand firm with the help of the Holy Spirit.
I love hanging out with people. Playing sports. And walking our dog.

Andy Meadows
Assistant Pastor
About Andy
Andy is the associate pastor with responsibility for youth and children’s work at Grace Church Dulwich.
He grew up in a Christian home and decided to commit his life to Jesus around the age of 15. He has been involved in youth and children’s work ever since leaving university and loves teaching the Bible to young people.
He is married to Alice and is an admirer of all things East Anglian, including Norwich City F.C., Delia Smith and Alan Partridge, but is still excited to be living in Britain’s second best city.

Helen Simmons
Administrator
About Helen
I started looking into Christianity during sixth form, but it took me many years before I finally became a Christian, trusting in Jesus, at All Saints church in Peckham more than 20 years ago.
I’m a qualified Chartered Accountant, and have worked in the Charity Sector for nearly 30 years. I am married with 2 adult children.
I have been part of Grace Church Dulwich for over 12 years and have seen the church grow and develop over the years.
I am new to the role of Church Administrator, but love planning ahead and keeping things in good order which is a huge part of it!
When I’m not working, looking after my family and home, I enjoy aqua aerobics, all things Agatha Christie, and watching the Superbowl!

Ben Jones
Churchwarden
About Ben
Ben has been a member of Grace Church Dulwich since 2010, lives locally with his wife and three children and is a teacher at a local secondary school.

Marcus Evans
Churchwarden
About Marcus
I put my faith in Jesus as a teenager after wrestling with questions about the meaning of life (an early mid-life crisis!). I became convinced that Jesus is uniquely able to teach mankind what God is like, to enable us to be forgiven and to have a certain hope of life after death if we put our trust in him.
With the exception of three years’ church work in my twenties, my paid employment has been advising companies on M&A deals as a Chartered Accountant, mostly in the City but also with spells in Brussels and Frankfurt.
I am married to Karine, we have two teenage children and live in Herne Hill. We have been coming to Grace Church Dulwich since 2010.
Outside of work I enjoy running, music, mountains, anything French, and time with family and friends.

Petasha Evans
Women’s Ministry Team
About Petasha
I grew up having a vague belief in God, but it wasn’t until my early 20s that I realised I could no longer sit on the fence – I needed to accept Jesus as my Saviour and Lord of my life or reject Him completely. I chose to follow him.
I have been a teacher in various guises for most of my adult life, covering a range of subjects and ages from art in a secondary school, to opening the Bible with University students; from teaching maths to children in care, to introducing Jesus to women on council estates.
My role at Grace Church involves working with women alongside Fiona Neden. Living in a house full of boys keeps me busy but in any spare time I enjoy sport, art and coffee with friends.

Attalia Nzouzi
Ministry Trainee
About Attalia
Attalia became a christian in her late teens when she got to grips with the fact that God sent his only Son Jesus came to die on the cross for sinners so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life! Since then, she has been passionate about knowing the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom he has sent. She loves to see more and more people do just the same.
Attalia is French. She first arrived in London as a student and then worked in the City for a few years. She was most recently based in Paris working in financial communication whilst involved in serving her local church. She is excited to be back to London as a Ministry Trainee at Grace Church Dulwich.
She enjoys getting to know people, languages, running, reading, cooking and music. She believes handball is the most wonderful sport in the world… especially when France wins !

Charlie Nicholls
Ministry Trainee
About Charlie
I started following Jesus during my first year at university. After studying the Bible with a friend for a few months, I became convinced that Jesus’ teaching about humanity made the most sense of the world around me. I didn’t want to be in rebellion against God anymore, so instead I started following Jesus as my Lord and Saviour.
Since leaving university, I have worked for two years at a church in the City and have taught Latin in a secondary school for three years. Now I am coming to work for Grace Church Dulwich, and I’m very excited!
My wife Alice and I live in Tulse Hill. In my free time, I love playing tennis, watching good series and reading books by James Holland.

Mary Burke
Safeguarding Co-ordinator
About Mary
I became a Christian while a student when it was explained to me who Jesus is and why he came. I then trusted Him as my Saviour. Since then through all the ups and downs of life my hope has been in Him. My career was in the NHS, largely working with people with special needs. I am married to Andrew and have three children and five grandchildren and have been at Grace Church 13 years.
Safeguarding is protecting a person from harm. It involves creating a safe environment and implementing procedures to prevent harm and responding effectively if a problem arises. It also supports victims of abuse. At Grace Church we follow legal guidelines and all staff and volunteers receive safeguarding training and are DBS checked. Christian Safeguarding Services is our advisor. We are proactive in safeguarding and aim to glorify God by providing the best possible care for all who come to Grace Church.

Membership
Being rooted long term in the church family
You become a member of Grace Church Dulwich by joining the Electoral Roll. It’s a way of saying that you are with us, as well as saying that you want us to be ‘with you’ in the sense of looking after you spiritually. Of course everyone is welcome at Grace Church Dulwich and membership doesn’t magically make you any more part of the family. What it does do is show a real commitment to the church long-term and a desire to be rooted in the church family here. One example of how this works is that anyone is welcome at our AGM but only members can vote.
To become a member, you need to have been coming to Grace Church Dulwich for at least 6 months and be a committed believer in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. We ask all our members to sign our Statement of Faith.
